Three Signs That It’s Time To Replace Your Bathroom Suite

Your bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your home to feel good about, as you use it several times a day, and usually get ready for your day in there.

A shabby, outdated, or impractical space will definitely no longer feel inviting, yet many people put off renovating due to cost and inconvenience.

It is well worth biting the bullet and updating your bathroom in certain circumstances, however, so let’s run through three signs it’s a project you need to undertake!

 Changing needs

If you don’t have the same requirements from the room as you did when it was installed, or perhaps you have moved into a home which does not quite suit your situation, this is one of the most common reasons to undertake a bathroom renovation.

The bathroom experts at Aston Designs in Milton Keynes told us “often if your family is expanding, you may realise that you need to rework your space to accommodate any new additions, whether that be because you require a bath when you didn’t previously, or you need more storage.”

Another reason could be mobility issues due to age or declining health, which may require the installation of a walk-in bath or shower, or perhaps just a more efficient layout to the room to make it easier to use.

 Outdated decor

An outdated bathroom may be something that you have just been living with for a number of years, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Perhaps styles have changed, or things are just starting to look a bit shabby, but updating the space can make a huge difference to how much you enjoy spending time in the room, as well as increasing the value of your home if you are looking to sell.

Simple things such as changing old fixtures and accessories can make a big difference, or you can really modernise the space by retiling. London Tile Shop suggest opting for marble effect or subway tiles, as these are both on trend and timeless.

 Wear and tear

Your bathroom is bound to have been subjected to some wear and tear over the years, as it is one of the most used rooms in your home, however, there comes a point where you really can’t ignore it any longer.

For example, flaking tile grout will need fixing, and if you notice any moisture damage or mould emerging this needs to be addressed as it can be harmful to health, particularly for babies or the elderly. NHS choices have more information about the possible dangers of mould and damp on their website here.

As you can see, there are more reasons to update your bathroom than simply for vanity purposes, and if it’s a project that you’ve been putting off for a long time it really may be worth sketching out some ideas. There are a great many fantastic ideas on the Houzz website if you are looking for a spot of inspiration!
